Oh Eight! Nerding Out on the 2008 Elections
I'm not sure if you guys have seen this Slate feature on the political futures, but the idea is compelling enough to make me want to go back and update the "market prices" quite frequently.|
What is also interesting to me is imagining what would happen if this really took off. At what point would people rather make money than have their candidate of choice in office? This reminds me of the early life insurance policies in 16th C. England in which third parties took out annuities on sailors, essentially betting on whether or not they would come back alive. Or you know, Pete Rose. (Trying to make a sports reference for atthesametime). Actually, here is another Slate article about the legality of political futures.
